How to Wear a Wig: Here Are All the Secrets
You just bought your first wig but have no idea how it wears? Here is a step by step guide to not miss a beat!
The wig is sometimes a necessary accessory, other times just a fashion accessory. In fact, changing your look is fun, especially once you understand how to wear a wig with ease. In fact, even if it may seem complicated, just follow some simple steps, with some variations depending on the model.
The full lace wig is equipped, in the cap, with a tulle protection on which the hair is sewn directly: it gives a very natural look to the hair (often made up of human hair), which can be easily combed and divided in any way. This model is very breathable but also expensive.
The front lace wig (tulle cinema) is made with a layer of tulle or lace in the front, instead of all over the cap. The appearance of the hair is very natural on the forehead, and the rest of the head is made of a more resistant material than the full one.
The non – lace wig is made of synthetic materials and is economical, less durable and natural.
But now let’s see step by step how to put on a wig.
Prepare Your Hair
Whether they are short or long, it is necessary to fix the hair so that it does not create bumps. Pull the hair back from the front hairline so it is not visible. If the hair is long you can separate it into twists and attach it to the head; if the hair is short you can use an elastic band or something similar.
Prepare The Skin
It is essential to clean the skin around the hairline. You can use a cotton swab dipped in an alcohol solution, ideal for eliminating residues of grease and impurities, to help the glue (if necessary, some models do not need it) to adhere to the skin.
Apply Glue or Tape
Dip a small brush in the glue and apply a thin layer around the hairline, then let it dry. It will be ready when it is thin and moist (and not sticky). If you choose adhesive tape, put a few strips along the attachment, fixing them well on the skin, leaving a little space between one strip and the other. You can also combine tape and glue. For a natural look, make sure the temples are well covered.
Put On The Wig
The latest generation wigs like ours are very easy to wear, thanks to details that have revolutionized the way to wear them: they are almost all equipped, in fact, with internal combs and an adjustable elastic according to the size of the head. These measures make our wig designs super safe, for an exceptional fit.
For wigs with full lace or front lace (cinema tulle) : cut the part of the inner fabric so that it fits perfectly to your hairline. Obviously you must be careful not to cut excessively and not to ruin the outline of the wig.
Most of wigs have one breathable and lightweight shell, with elastic bands adjustable according to the size of the head and many have silicone anchors for those suffering from alopecia.
In particular, some models have a monofilament shell (total or partial), that is, assembled by hand with the strands inserted in a very fine membrane to reproduce the effect of the real scalp.
To put the wig on properly, place a finger in the center of the forehead. Place it and spread it gently on the scalp, centering the finger on the forehead.
Precious advice: do not bend upside down so as not to unbalance the wig on your head.
Secure The Wig
Once the wig is in place, use a fine-toothed comb to gently press on the front edges.
For the lace wig: Make sure the tulle areas are snug against the head to form a natural hairline.
Adjust The Wig
Check that there are no glue residues and that’s it… you just have to fix the wig before going out, but remember to wait 15 minutes from fixing before combing it!
